Specialities explained

Your speciality is chosen at player creation and stays with you for the whole career. It changes how fast you train certain attributes and how you behave in the match engine. There is no best speciality — only different routes.

How they work

Each speciality gives an edge in some situations and a drawback in others. Some mainly shift training speed, others show up directly in match events such as duels, finishing and headers.

Attacking picks

  • Clinical: the best finishing edge, the obvious pick for strikers chasing the golden boot.
  • Quick: strong in running duels and counters, suits wingers and fullbacks.
  • Technical: lifts close control and tight-space play, suits creative midfielders.
  • Unpredictable: higher variance — more magic and more misses.

Defensive and collective picks

  • Powerful: duels and strength, suits centre-backs and target men.
  • Header specialist: heading in both boxes and on set pieces.
  • Workhorse: more ground covered and more interceptions across the match.
  • Leader: lifts the team's mental side in tight moments.
  • Team player: steadier contribution and better link-up.
  • Reflexes: the goalkeeper speciality for more saves.

How to choose

Pick for the role you want in five seasons, not the one you start in. The speciality cannot be changed, while attributes can always be retrained.
